China Travel, an update of interest to Guangzhou

I recently read an article by Lloyd Behner, posted in the NY Times, about travel to China. In short, he says: Guangzhou has been known largely for its cuisine and commerce, but gray skies and massive highways have given it an industrial feel that resulted in low tourist numbers. The Chinese city's fate is changing, however. Taojin Lu, for example, is a neighborhood that's transforming into a popular hangout for artsy Chinese, expats and visitors. "Five years ago it used to be more down and dirty, with vegetables rotting in the street," said British-born Jonathan Edwards. "Now it's quite funky. There's a nice mix of foreigners and hip Chinese."
