For people interested and going to Greece, especially taking a few days in the up coming months to visit Historic Athens, this is news they need to be aware of.
** Starting on the 14th of February 2009, the Metro of Athens will be partly closed from Ethniki Amyna station to the airport station, for the next six months, due to the works underway for its further extension.
** During this period the transportation from the airport to various hotels will be available by:

2. The combination of the Proastiakos train to Neratziotissa station where you change to line 1 till Omonia and then change to line 2 direction Aghios Dimitrios and get off at Akropoli station.
3. Bus X95 to Syntagma and then Metro line 2 direction Aghios Dimitrios and getting off at Akropoli station.
4. Private car arranged by select hotels (and can be done through various agencies working with them) that costs about euro 45 during day time and euro 55 during night time.

SUNDAY HIGHLIGHTS - MALTA
Do you know where GOZO is? Think of being the "jewel" of the Maltese Islands. It's Exotic, on the proverbial doorstep of Europe, accessible for all. Artists love it because of its alluring hues especially during daylight hours with its steep slopes and cliffs.
Interested in Neolithic art? The oldest built structure in the world, Ggantija Temples, contain art which is among the most advanced for the period. The Temples are 5600 years old.
Then there's Gozo's oldest castle, Citadel, which was built on a crag in the middle of the Island.
There are more than 50 catholic churches on the Island, old baroque townhouses have been converted into restaurants offering very creative concoctions making use of local items (veggies, free range chicken, olive oil, and very impressive wine cellars).
The best accommodations are old farmhouses and townhouses - converted into luxury accommodations with internal courtyards, rustic features yet many now boast swimming pools.
Visit Ramala Bay, considered one of the nicest beaches in the Mediterranean or the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
Want to put on that scuba gear? Gozo and Comino are known as the top place in the Mediterranean for scuba diving because of its dramatic underwater topography, great visibility and mild winters
The Malta Tourism Authority remarks that on Gozo one an experience an agro-tourism farm, a sheep farm or fishing with a real fisherman - then cooking the catch!
Comino, one can walk around the coast seeing the military forts erected by the Knights of Columbus by hiking or taking mountain bikes for a by-yourself-tour. Take along a camera.

New Travel Information re: Name Dropping
This note came to me via ASTA and everyone should be aware of the possible ramifications. Make sure your Frequent Flyer notes, and others, always reads your Passport Name. I always check with my clients and have them give me the name as it appears on their passports and often they wonder why I need this particular information, the article speaks for itself.
The Transportation Security Administration's Secure Flight program requires that travelers' names on their bookings be exactly the same as the names on their government-issued IDs. Discrepancies between these names and the names on travelers' frequent-flier accounts could lead to issues. "We are indeed aware of this problem," said Paul Ruden, senior vice president for legal and industry affairs at ASTA. "At the moment, I see no solution except the long and laborious one. Clients, with or without the help of their TMCs, are going to have to square away their frequent-flier identities with their government ID identities."
The other thing, don't balk when your agent (me or whomever) asks for your birthdate and that of your traveling companions. We don't care how old you are (really !!) but the airlines and cruise agencies (and others) want us to provide that information. Besides...you might get a birthday card for your trouble.
Have a good day!

Romance, Travel - Near and Far
It's Romance Time - Guys and Gals - don't forget the roses and chocolates (or whatever you do) for this Cupid's Day, it's only almost a week away, where did the time go?
I think of Kauai and Maui when thinking of Paradise and romantic trips close to home - the more adventurous can zip line through the rain forests and trees. Others can snorkel at Molokini, people watch at Kimo's in Lahaina or shop up at Makaweia. There are fabulous artists who do beautiful jewelry design, painters who put their skills on display in a gallery on the main street in Makaweia.
This time of the year one can see Pat and Vanna of Wheel of Fortune Fame back in the Islands again. Go up to the volcano, tour the historic buildings and see the lava, imagine it as it must have been coming down the mountain not too long ago!
Oahu, there is so much to see there. Honolulu boasts Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, go out to North Shore, see the winter waves and surfers, stop at the Polynesian Cultural Center, see the pineapple and cane fields up towards Schofield Barracks. You can shop at Pearl Ridge Shopping Center or at the International Market Place in Waikiki.
Come see us at www.eaglepointtravel.com and see the low prices all over the Islands. Take a 4 day weekend and relax and enjoy yourself! We all have enough stress in our lives, discard it and the worries of life for a short time.
